Core Beliefs
The following are the core beliefs of Bethel Assembly Clovis, NM based on the foundational truths taught in the bible. All of our teaching and ministry is rooted in and flows out of these biblical doctrines.
Scriptures
We believe the entire Bible is the inspired Word of God and that men were moved by the Spirit to write words of Scripture. The New Testament is our infallible guide in matters pertaining to conduct and doctrine.
God
There is one eternally existing God who has three distinct persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. He is the creator of all that exists, both visible and invisible, and is therefore worthy of all glory and praise. God is perfect in love, power, holiness, goodness, knowledge, wisdom, justice, and mercy. He is unchangeable and therefore is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow.
Holy Spirit
The fruits of the Spirit are the by-product of a Spirit-filled life and are evidence of spiritual maturity. The baptism in the Holy Spirit and the gifts of the Spirit are given to empower, encourage, and build up the body. We are instructed to diligently seek the gifts, and use them in Biblical order and in the context of love.
Mankind
Humans, both male and female, were created in God's image for His glory. without sin to have fellowship with Him, but became alienated from that relationship through sinful disobedience. As a result, man is totally incapable of coming back into a right relationship with God through his own effort.
Salvation
We believe that the shed blood of Jesus Christ on the cross provides the sole basis for the forgiveness of sins. Therefore, salvation only occurs when a person places his faith in the death and resurrection of Christ as sufficient payment for his sin. One who physically dies in his sins without Christ is eternally lost in the Lake of Fire, and therefore, has no further opportunity of hearing the Gospel of repenting.
Christian Life
We believe that every Christian should live for Christ and not for himself. By obedience to the Word and being baptized in the Holy Spirit, every believer will mature and receive the power to be a witness in this world.
The Church
We believe that the church is the body of Christ of which Jesus Christ is the Head. The members are those who have trusted by faith in the finished work of Christ. The Church is meant to be the visible body of Christ, sent into the world to glorify God by loving Him and making Him known to a lost world.
Water Baptism & Communion (the Lord’s Supper)
These two scriptural ordinances of a New Testament church are vital. We follow our Lord’s command to give public evidence of our salvation with baptism by water through full emersion, and faithfully remember Christ’s cleansing blood and broken body with the elements of Holy Communion.
The Rapture & Christ's Return
Jesus will call for the Church in the rapture of the saints witch will will occur before the beginning of a seven-year tribulation period.
Jesus Christ will return after the tribulation to judge both the living and the dead and to usher in the fullness of God's kingdom on earth.
